Requisitos de Graduación
Bachillerato en Ciencias en Nutrición y Dietética (Coordinado)
Undergraduate students of CPND at Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Recinto de Gurabo will be eligible to receive the academic degree after meeting the following requirements and procedures:
- Students must apply for graduation at the Registar’s Office during the period established in the academic calendar.
- Completion of the courses required for the degree as set down by the institution.
- Completion of the number of credits hours required for the degree with a minimum grade point average of 2.50 for the whole degree.
- To complete the grade point average for graduation, only successfully completed courses which were requirements for the degree will be considered.
- All students who enter Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Recinto de Gurabo will be subject to the graduation requirements in force during the year they were admitted. Nevertheless, if the curriculum was modified, the student can choose to graduate from the new curriculum, but not by a combination of both.
- Transfer students must complete at Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Recinto de Gurabo at least the least thirty (30) credit hours of a bachelor’s degree and the last twelve (12) credit hours of an associate degree. The student must complete the last twelve (12) credits of its major at Universidad Ana G. Méndez, Recinto de Gurabo.
Once admitted to the Coordinated Program students are expected to complete all program requirements within three years. Under special circumstances, a maximum of five years is allowed to complete the program.
Students must also settle any debts to the institution. No document certifying graduation will be given until documentation has been presented that there are no outstanding debts.
All students applying for readmission will be subject to the requirements for graduation in effect during the year they are readmitted.
Commencement exercises will be held once a year, at the end of the second academic semester. Students who meet graduation requirements at the end of any term or summer session may apply to the Office of the registrar for a certification to that effect.
Upon completion of the Coordinated Program, all students will receive a Verification Statement indicating that they have met the academic and supervised practice requirements making them eligible to sit for the Puerto Rico Examination for Nutritionists-Dietitians and for the United States Registration Examination for Dietitians. Five copies of the Verification Statement are issued: three for the student’s personal file, one to send to ADA to move from Associate Membership to Active Membership, and one to use for licensure purposes. These verification statements are legal documents and should be handled carefully ad stored in a secure place.
The program reserves the right to withhold of the Verification Statement until program faculty and preceptors agree that the student is entry-level competent to practice in the field of dietetics.
- Apply problem solving, critical thinking techniques in foodservice systems management, community nutrition and medical nutrition therapy.
- Demonstrate ethical values and human sensibility in working with patients/clients, employees, and with the general public.
- Proficiency in a minimum of three (3) recognized major areas, such as, foodservice systems management, community nutrition, and medical nutrition therapy.
- Demonstrate oral and written communication skills in working with patients/clients, employees, and with the general public.
- Play an effective role in interdisciplinary professional work groups.
- Apply skills in the preparation of educational materials for various audiences/groups.
- Participate and demonstrate interest in community nutrition research, surveillance and monitoring.
- Develop a health promotion/disease prevention intervention project, applying research methodology.
- Interpret and incorporate a new scientific knowledge into practice, applying research methodology in their analysis.
- Recognize the need to engage in life-long learning, participating in professional/educational activities.
